About This Spot

Stepping into Tutun Han & Cave Cafe is like slipping through a quiet portal where time winds gently back to the 17th century. Nestled within the historic heart of Gaziantep’s bustling bazaar, this place hums with a uniquely warm and layered atmosphere—where the soft murmur of old stories blends effortlessly with the clink of tea glasses and the subtle aroma of nargile drifting through the air.

Here, the pace feels unhurried and intimate, inviting you to pause and savor. The space itself is a mosaic of experiences: part cozy café, part antique karavanserai, part live music venue tucked into an underground cave that offers refuge from the city’s heat and noise. Thick rugs, low tables, and gentle lighting create a welcoming nook perfect for lingering conversations or quiet reflection.

As you settle in, it’s easy to lose yourself in the ritual of Turkish coffee prepared with care, or to unwind with a smooth apple-flavored hookah, its sweet smoke weaving through rich, herbal blends like zahter and menengiç. Seasonal touches like minty lemonade or the delicate crunch of Antep pistachios add unexpected texture to the experience. In winter, the comforting heat beneath a shared blanket adds another layer of coziness, making the cave café feel like a hidden sanctuary.

This is a place where history seeps from the walls, where the echoes of traders and travelers mingle with the laughter of today’s guests. Weekends bring the vibrant pull of live Turkish music, turning the space into a lively gathering point without ever losing its grounded, welcoming spirit.

Tutun Han & Cave Cafe isn’t just a stop for a drink or a smoke—it’s a gentle journey into Gaziantep’s living past, experienced with a glass of tea in hand and the warmth of human connection all around.

One of the best locations to have your Turkish coffee and hookah at the same time. This place is full of amazing Turkish history that goes back to the 17th century when this place was used for trade. The service is very nice and friendly, the speaks English well. The food was great and the apple hookah was one of the best ever experience. The price is reasonable for the atmosphere and the service.

A wonderful place with boutique decoration, Very cosy and cultural place of gaziantep. The food is not so good as you can see in the pictures, but it’s a very special place especially for visitors and tourists. There is a place where you can put a blanket on your legs with coals to warm your feet. I highly recommend this place for any comers to Gaziantep.

Amazing ambiance and a must try if you are in Gaziantep! the place does not serve food though, only drinks, narguile and gozleme which is a cheese pastry. Prices are fair and same as any other cafe. On the weekends, they do turkish band parties and they are just great. In winter time, you can relax and take off your shoes, sit on the ground and have your shisha served to your ground table while you enjoy the heat from under your table. They also have an underground grotto, it can be a bit humid in winter time though. It’s a stunning experience! Ive added some generic photos but ill upload more from my next visit, stay tuned!
